New Bands of the Day (Part 1) - Mari Hajem, TYYNYT, Lowly

Writer's picture: Andy WorsAndy Wors

So we started this week with Mari Hajem, a Norwegian indie pop artist inspired by left-field pop and northern soul, who’s been living in the UK for a few years. Shes played in numerous festivals, supporting some name acts, and recorded a fair amount of her own material previously, but has officially just recorded and released her debut single, ‘Nebula’. This has a fantastic video with it, and we’re really looking forward to hearing the results of her recordings with her new 5-piece band. Further info here…

Lowly from Denmark, have made quite an impact back in their home country, and recently made their live debut in London at a Ja Ja Ja club night. Singles ‘Daydreamers’ and ‘Stones in the Water’ demonstrate their unique brand of Noise Pop, and received some UK Radio Airplay. We expect big things from these guys, and you can find out more here:

We just love the sound from Finland shoegazers TYYNYT, who are definitely on the excellent Solina Records and who have a single called Pusuudelleen out which is well worth listening to. Theres also a track on Soundcloud called LRJA which is pretty good too. TYYNYT are the invention of Jari Oisalo, an album is planned for next year, and you can find out more about them here…
