We featured The Entrepreneurs new track and another artist we've written about a fair few times is Icelandic artist Axel Flóvent, who we first featured when he released his 'Forest Fires' EP back in 2015, and who made a real impact with his album 'You Stay by the Sea' in 2021. Along the way he's collaborated with numerous different artists, including Tusks, Plàsi and even worked with our favourite Icelandic Eurovision hopeful 'Ceasetone'.
Ahead of a new album due in the Summer he's heading out on an extensive tour across Iceland, Germany and Denmark, whilst visiting USA for SXSW in the midst of it all. But firstly the 3rd single from his new album has been released, and it's entitled 'Have This Dance'. There's a fairly simple premise behind the song, which he says is "about falling in love and seeing the world in a new light. You thought you had seen it all and you were bored of it and now this person came along. Things felt exciting again.”
As always Axel Flóvent has this ability to write songs with the softest elegance, with a distinctiveness that sets him apart, and 'Have the Dance' has a gentle melody that will get under your skin. There's a lovely video the compliments the track too, directed and filmed by Magnus Andersen with dance company RIVA apparently in the gorgeous Faroe Islands. To be honest I'd guessed it wasn't Crewe due to the absence of shopping trolleys.
Anyway we really look forward to the album, and some more UK Tour dates in the Autumn would be good. Last time he came here I think was 2019, but I might be mistaken.
