Unlike my idol Andy who has an extensive knowledge of all the musicians who we feature, I
donât. And I know that breaks all the rules in every writerâs guidebook, but Iâd like to use that to our advantage. Itâs fun blind reviewing a new song and basing all my âjudgmentâ merely on what I hear and feel, not on what I know about the artist. So with that said, todayâs drug is Swedish duo Club 8âs new single, âEchoes of our Time.â
Dreamy, synth, slightly electronic, and very indie-pop, this song is a recall on time
passed - specifically the last moments spent with a past lover. Vocals are airy, so it kind of adds to the âlongingâ effect of the lyrics. Tone wise, the emphasised bass and beats oddly matches the wispy singer perfectly, so itâs one of those technically sad songs disguised into a electrobeat that gets your dancing shoes on.
Eventually I got curious and looked them up, and realised that both bandmates Karolina
Komstedt and Johan AngergĂĽrd have collectively made music for the past 30 years. Listened to their other songs as well and it seems theyâve worked a pretty calculated dynamic that just works.
Something about Karolinaâs vocals just draws you in, and youâll know what I mean when you stream Club 8âs âEchoes of our Timeâ now. While youâre at it, make sure to check out their entire discography, too!
