Unlike my idol Andy who has an extensive knowledge of all the musicians who we feature, I

don’t. And I know that breaks all the rules in every writer’s guidebook, but I’d like to use that to our advantage. It’s fun blind reviewing a new song and basing all my ‘judgment’ merely on what I hear and feel, not on what I know about the artist. So with that said, today’s drug is Swedish duo Club 8’s new single, “Echoes of our Time.”

Dreamy, synth, slightly electronic, and very indie-pop, this song is a recall on time

passed - specifically the last moments spent with a past lover. Vocals are airy, so it kind of adds to the “longing” effect of the lyrics. Tone wise, the emphasised bass and beats oddly matches the wispy singer perfectly, so it’s one of those technically sad songs disguised into a electrobeat that gets your dancing shoes on.

Eventually I got curious and looked them up, and realised that both bandmates Karolina

Komstedt and Johan Angergård have collectively made music for the past 30 years. Listened to their other songs as well and it seems they’ve worked a pretty calculated dynamic that just works.

Something about Karolina’s vocals just draws you in, and you’ll know what I mean when you stream Club 8’s “Echoes of our Time” now. While you’re at it, make sure to check out their entire discography, too!

Release Date: 23rd January
