Whale and the Village - new Video and Album!

We have a few album reviews being drafted right now, but we'll kickstart 2017 with a new video from a Finnish Folk band that we had some lovely feedback about after we wrote about them back in November 2015. 'Whale and the Village' are from Turku, often mentioned on this website as it is the home of a number of bands we've featured including The Stillwalkers and the excellent Matti Jasu.

Anyway 'Whale and the Village' released their first album early in 2015, and their follow up is due to be released on the 3rd February and it is entitled 'Second'. From that album they've released two singles, 'Revolving Door' and 'Some Days', and you can watch the music video for the first one of these below.

I really like this band, and 'Revolving Door' is just such a good example of why they appeal so much - the track is just so unashamedly upbeat, with a catchy melody and they always look like they're having great fun making music. 2016 was pretty miserable in many ways, so starting 2017 with a band like 'Whale and the Village' seems like a perfect thing to do.

There are so many Album releases planned for February, I have no idea whether we'll be able to cover them all, but we will try to cover 'Second' if we have chance, because there music deserves to be heard by as many people as possible.

And for those of you fortunate enough to live in Turku, 'Whale and the Village' play a launch gig for their new album at BrewDog Turku on Friday 3rd Feb. And unless I'm mistaken it looks like the excellent Bone Moon (ex Ochre Room), also featured on here last year, will be in support.
