So here's some intense Swedish shoegaze to start your weekend, courtesy of young 6 piece Kallsup, who to be honest I thought I'd written about previously, but apparently not. They were formed back in 2022, released an EP the following year, and are now on the verge of releasing their debut album 'En sista räddning' through the always excellent Varo Records. New single 'Golfströmmen' is not their most cheery offering, but I like the swirling guitars and melancholy vocals which draw you in to the anxiety of the track, it's pretty compelling stuff. The lyrics are in Swedish, but the band 'helpfully' suggest that the track 'describes the metaphysics of blinders and the difficulty in relating to something that is both vague and hopeless'. I'd worked that out for myself already, obviously.
Anyway so tardy have I been with this, that the band have already released a new track entitled 'Forever'. They'll also be doing some live shows in both Germany and Sweden to back up the release of the album.
