It’s been a long time since we wrote about Finnish songwriter Matti Jasu, but we always welcome new material from him and his new track ‘Sunday Scaries’ is a typically easy listening and warm sounding track from the Turku born artist.
For those of you who haven’t come across him before, he has a long history of releases in bands formed around his songwriting – firstly with the Goodnight Monsters as far back as 2004, and more recently as Matti Jasu & The Loose Train in 2016. It was then that we last wrote about his ‘Gone to the Dogs’ album, which we enjoyed so much it found its way into our Albums of the Year list – check out tracks such as ‘Race You Down to the Ground’.
Influenced by rock, folk and country artists, the result is a gentle paced and fluid indie style, and all those influences are apparent in ‘Sunday Scaries’. But at the centre of the song is a laid back timeless melody, with a charm to it that I think a lot of readers will appreciate.

The song is from his forthcoming album 'Up and Running', which will be released soon. You can also find it on the new Nordic Music Review Indie Playlist here, please give it a listen.
