There are certain phrases that immediately feel familiar round here, and ā€œlosing your grip on realityā€ is definitely one of them - as regular readers will testify. So it feels entirely appropriate that Misty Coast have returned with a song based around that subject: ā€˜Hallucinating’, focussing on that blurred space between clarity and confusion.

It also arrived at the same time as Misty Coast (along with VEPS) were announced for Indiefjord Festival, pretty much our favourite indie band at our favourite music festival - a match made in absolute heaven. And ā€˜Hallucinating’ has that recognisable Misty Coast sheen: hazy guitars, soft melodies, and a vocal that sounds both grounded and slightly unearthly. It drifts without ever losing direction, shimmering and elegant.

Similarly to Phogg with their ā€˜Album of the Week’, there is always the feeling that Misty Coast are happy to push boundaries, experiment and do as they please. ā€˜Hallucinating’ is a curiosity of a track and it makes me really excited for their new album, which is apparently due in April.

Release Date: 6th February
