Poor Bambi (Norway) - ‘Business or Pleasure’ (single)

Do we need to wake up? This should do it perfectly.

According to their website, Poor Bambi surge out of Stavanger like an ‘oil spill… leaving a polluted trail of noise and controlled chaos’. It’s a powerful line in itself, and very apt too because new single ‘Business or Pleasure’ is a highly entertaining barrage of guitar, noise rock and punk influenced vocals courtesy of singer Sarah Hestness, guitarist Espen Eidem and drummer Simen Amundrud.

There’s quite a few things to like about this track, but the highlight is definitely the guitar sound itself, a crackling, cackling cacophony of wails and screeching. But that’s not the only entertainment on offer, with huge contrasts in volume, a barrage of lyrics to comprehend and some 2 mins 40 seconds into the track it even sounds like they’re practicing some demented, atonal type scales, encouraged by Hestness shouting ‘again…again’. It’s actually great fun.

‘Business or Pleasure’ is their latest single, and is released through our old friends at Apollon Records, so I should hope an album will reach us all at some point.
