Looking bank at old posts it seems that we were the 1st music website to feature Norwegian musician Vilnes when he released his debut ‘Demons’ back in 2018, so it’s great to see that he’s still going strong 7 years on, releasing his track ‘Fish Tank’ in February and finally on the verge of releasing a full length album. He was always a songwriter who showed a lot of maturity in his songwriting, and ‘Fish Tank’ is a great demonstration of why I so highly regard his music, with a track that feels personal and intimate, yet opens up powerfully to the extent it becomes almost epic in scale. The opening of the song, with a soft melancholy cello will draw you in, and as always with Vilnes’ music there’s a lovely flowing melody that carries the song along. Interestingly Vilnes now seems to be releasing music through Apollon, normally the home of Norwegians finest prog rock type bands, but they do have an excellent wider roster of artists, and I look forward to that Vilnes album release, which will be with us on the 2nd May.
